givenchy haute couture paris s/s 2012

taking inspiration from the 1927 movie metropolis and the theme music from a 1920's russian film, ricardo tisci shows us once again why everyone waits to see givenchy at haute couture. this season tisci chose darker colours, straying away from the usual white that was all over last season. the details, as usual, are incredibly stunning with a number of dresses sporting crocodile scales across the fabric. incredibly, this took his altier team 350 hours to make, with the crocodile scales having to be cut, numbered, bleached, dyed and resewn onto the tulle.

the dresses look rather heavy on the models but it's still what givenchy is, edgy but modern at the same time. the earrings look incredibly detailed and i would definitely like to see someone try to wear those on the red carpet! the nose rings where a bit much in my opinion but i guess that is all the rage these days.

models include: natasha poly, kristen mcmenamy, stella tennant, ana claudia michels, daria strokous, kati nescher, saskia de brauw, valerija kelava and zuzanna bijoch.
